Matta Rice

Kerala Matta Rice is also known as Rose Matta Rice, Kerala Red Rice and Red Boiled Rice. It is an indigenous variety of rice grown in Kerala, India. It is the staple food of Kerala people. It is known for its coarseness and health benefits. Red Matta rice has long cooking time and requires extra water. Matta Rice is more nutritious than white polished rice because parboiling before milling retains some nutrients. It's red cover is a cancer resistant.
